Organic or conventional olive oil?

Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)

Starting from the premise that Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is the best in the world, some people opt for traditionally cultivated oil and others, following new trends, prefer organic, which plays a social role: on one hand it supplies a specific market that demands organic products and, at the same time, provides the public with goods that contribute to environmental protection, animal welfare, and rural development. Organic olive oil comes from extra virgin olive oil that has been obtained without the use of chemical products, such as fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, thus helping to protect the environment and consumers' health. Difference between organic and conventional olive oil The main difference between a conventional agricultural product and an organic one is its cultivation method, which is based on three fundamental requirements that the final product must meet to be considered organic:

No pesticides are used; if products are used for pest control, they are natural.
No herbicides are used; as in the previous case, weed control is carried out naturally.
Fertilizers must be natural.

Respecting the flavor and quality of the product, we can affirm that there need not be differences between an extra virgin olive oil and an organic extra virgin olive oil; many other factors influence the product’s quality and flavor, such as: climate, surroundings, type of cultivation (irrigated or rain-fed), variety and ripeness of the olive, and the extraction process. All of this determines its quality, flavor and health properties, regardless of whether the cultivation is organic or conventional. However, the ones we’ve selected are excellent and we know you’ll love them. [caption id="attachment_29596" align="aligncenter" width="800"]Organic or traditional olive oil? Extra Virgin Organic Picual Olive Oil Early Harvest, Verde Divino[/caption]

Organic early-harvest Picual EVOO, Verde Divino

The Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil of the Picual variety, early harvest comes from a 100% organic farming system that maintains absolute respect for the environment and nature. It is produced using traditional processes, taking care of every stage from the grove to the bottling, resulting in a pure, top-quality product. The Picual variety is the most beneficial of all, since it is the oil richest in oleic acid and polyphenols. And if you add that it’s organic, it becomes a first-rate gastronomic treasure. Ideal for the most demanding palates, for finishing dishes, and for anything you want! [caption id="attachment_29597" align="aligncenter" width="800"]Organic or traditional olive oil? Lagar del Soto Organic Manzanilla Cacereña EVOO, Jacoliva

Extra Virgin Olive Oil, single-varietal of superior category made from the absolutely green Manzanilla Cacereña variety from organically farmed, traditional, rain-fed groves. Early harvest. Unique for its organoleptic characteristics, this oil is born from absolutely green olives—an audacity that makes it an almost unique experience. Its limited production makes it one of the most exclusive EVOOs in Spain. And at Made in Spain Gourmet it is one of the most appreciated. I like it with sourdough bread. Organic Arbequina EVOO, Set d’Oli

Fruity flavor of olive and other fruits such as apple, banana and almond, with a hint of sweetness and an absence of bitterness and pungency. The olive oil from this variety is delicate in both concept and structure. The oils Set d'Oli come from organically produced olives selected first on the estate and later through tastings and coupages of different batches at the mill. The selection is carried out by Albert Farré, a person who I think can talk to the olive trees, because his oils are incredible.
