Carlos I Polvorones Gift Box, Obrador Real
Polvorón is made using the same method as in days gone by, in an oven fired with olive wood, and each of these sweet jewels is wrapped one by one. As they are handmade, a variation in size can be seen in each piece, the result of the artisanal process. The genuine, unique flavor of the Carlos I polvorón has remained unchanged over time since the 16th century.

Legend has it that monarch Carlos I would stock up on his exquisite polvorones before every battle, to enjoy them with his officers as nourishment before combat and as a reward after victories. He would send his master pastry chefs an edict with the order written in his own hand, bearing his royal signature.
