El Cepón 2020 is a single-vineyard wine made by the winery Aníbal de Otero, located in Villafranca del Bierzo, León. This wine is produced exclusively from Mencía grapes sourced from century-old, goblet-trained vines grown in the El Cepón plot, situated 500 meters above sea level with a north-south orientation and influenced by a Mediterranean-continental climate. The farming is organic, following traditional methods.

Small plots with an average age of over 130 years. Sustainable artisanal farming with the utmost respect for the environment. Hand-harvested in 18-20 kilo crates.

Intense picota cherry red color.
Intense varietal aromas of the Mencía grape, dominated by red fruits (cherry and cassis) and black fruits (plum), with notes of oregano and wild herbs. Smoky and spicy notes (coconut and vanilla) from the oak wood remain in the background.
Nose:
It offers intense aromas of red and black fruits, such as cherry and blackberry, evolving toward jammy notes. Balsamic hints of Mediterranean scrubland, menthol and licorice are also present, intensifying with aeration and developing nuances of musk and floral fragrances.
Palate:
Powerful and balanced on the palate, with very polished tannins, great length and a finish full of long-lasting aromatic sensations.

Over time, a natural sediment of coloring matter or tartrates may appear, an unmistakable sign of purity and integrity. It will evolve positively in the bottle over the next 10 years. Store in a cool (12º – 14º C), dark place in a horizontal position.
