Altolandon
Dulce Enero Ice Wine, Altolandon
75 cl bottle. This wine can be called ice wine both because of its production process and because the grapes remain on the vine until January, when they are finally harvested. The bottle label is striking, with a nod to the harvest season by showing snow-covered fields.

Technical sheet

Winery: Altolandon

D.O.: Manchuela

Variety: 100% Petit Manseng.

Alcohol content: 12.5% vol.

Tasting note:

This wine has an intense amber color that turns golden. On the nose, it is a white wine with great depth and plenty of personality; tropical notes of peach and apricot can be perceived. Citrus notes and distinctive nuances also make it an even more unique wine.

On the palate, it offers intense flavors, with stone fruit playing a particularly prominent role. With a long finish, it is a sweet and fresh wine thanks to its acidity. Although it has hints of honey, it is not cloying, as these are balanced by its acidity and freshness.

Serving temperature:

Viticulture: organic and vegan.

Geology and soil: the vineyards are located on deep soils with little organic matter. They are very calcareous, sandy, and stony soils.

Winemaking: the first step is to freeze the water in order to obtain a higher concentration of sugars in the must, which must be pressed before the ice crystals break. Fermentation lasts around two or three months and takes place in small stainless steel tanks.

Pairing: pairs perfectly with cheeses, especially strong cheeses; it can also be enjoyed with cured meats and even certain chocolates.

Altolandon

Following the excellent oenological advice of wine connoisseur Zoltan Nagy, who recommended this winery to us from the very beginning. Admittedly, we did not know where the DO Manchuela (Castilla-La Mancha) was, nor did we know who Rosalía Molina was. A Valencian from Requena, she has her Altolandon winery in the town of Landete. A high-altitude winery (1,100m), which gives its wines that distinctive character compared with wines grown at sea level. Together with her husband, she created a winery whose aim was to recover native grapes such as Bobal and Garnacha, while also adding international varieties such as Syrah, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec. Among the white wines, we find varieties such as Viognier, Chardonnay, Garnacha Blanca, and Muscat à Petits Grains, producing fresh wines with great acidity. In addition, she is able to create a true ice wine (Dulce de Enero), harvested in January at no less than eight degrees below zero! It is comparable to those made in Germany or Canada. Restless and fully aware that, in order to succeed, one must travel the world offering our products with care and passion, but also with the utmost professionalism. A brand with all the hallmarks of MadeinSpain.
