Bodegas Anibal de Otero

Aníbal de Otero is a family winery located in Villafranca del Bierzo (León), renowned for its dedication to producing high-quality wines noted for their authenticity, freshness, and balance. Founded in 2013 by Elva García Amigo, an economist by training and third-generation winegrower, the winery pays tribute to her father, Aníbal García, who instilled in her a passion for the vineyard. The winery works with century-old vineyards, some over 130 years old, traditionally bush-trained and with very limited yields of half a kilo per vine. These vines are found in privileged sites such as "Los Fornos", where the Mencía grape reaches its fullest expression. Among its wines are Aníbal de Otero Mencía Joven, aged for 3 months in French oak barrels; Aníbal de Otero Rosado, made from vines with an average age of 90 years; and single-site wines such as El Cepón, Los Fornos, and Terrafondada, the latter an exclusive gem with a production of only 500 bottles. The winery has been awarded Best Winery in Castilla y León by the Castilian and Leonese Academy of Gastronomy, a distinction that underscores its commitment to authenticity, sustainability, and excellence in wine production. We at Made in Spain Gourmet are proud to include them among our wines that represent the very best of Spain.
