Los Fornos by AnÃbal de Otero
Winemaking
With a very limited yield of less than half a kilogram of grapes per vine, Los Fornos 2015 was rated Excellent by the Bierzo Designation of Origin. A free-style wine, it is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels and was bottled on July 13, 2017, without fining or stabilization.
Vineyards
Very small plots from our finest vineyard in the exclusive Los Fornos site in the village of Otero. South-facing, on a slope overlooking the valley where the Burbia and Cua rivers meet the Sil. Altitude 600 meters.
Soils
Land dominated by limestone and slate, with a mixture of sand and gravel. Surrounded by undergrowth, wildflowers, and aromatic plants.
Aging
18 months in new and used 225-liter French oak barrels. Bottle-aged for at least 36 months.

Appearance:
Intense picota cherry red color.
Nose:
Spiced aromas (vanilla, clove, cinnamon), roasted notes (coffee, cocoa), and varietal MencÃa notes (cherry, cassis, broom).
Palate:
Balanced and fresh, with sweet, polished tannins. Long finish, slightly bitter and aromatic.

Ideal with game meats, rice dishes, and cured sausages. Serve between 14 and 16 °C.
Over time, a natural sediment of coloring matter or tartrates may appear, an unmistakable sign of purity and integrity. It will evolve positively in the bottle over the next 10 years. Store in a cool (12º – 14º C), dark place in a horizontal position.
