The Premium Gourmet Concept One of the things that best defines us Spaniards is that we jump on trends very quickly. Often without any real justification. The tendency to use the word Gourmet to elevate the perceived quality of marketed products is another twist to justify, on one hand, the margins some brands enjoy, and on the other, not to miss the boat with the audience that wants better products and better gastronomic experiences at home. We were born in 2019 with the Premium Gourmet concept. Something that wasn’t well understood at the time, but that is now essential. Our concept groups exactly what a product needs to be considered unique. No marketing elements trying to manipulate you into paying for something unnecessary or unjustified. But, on the other hand, we want you to know what you are paying for and understand the value of the product you acquire. At Made in Spain Gourmet we consider a product to have the Premium Gourmet category when you know its ingredients, the origin of the catch (preserves/canned fish), traceability (cured meats, cheeses), the varieties of the olives and the moment of their harvest (extra virgin olive oils), its quality seals (IFS, IGP, D.O., etc.), we explain how they are made — both the product and its protective packaging — we share with you who the producers are behind these wonders, and most importantly, our seal guarantees that everything we explain is totally and absolutely true. We are a wonderful and privileged country gastronomically, but we must preserve it for future generations. Because Made in Spain Means Quality Ventresca (tuna belly) of Bonito del Norte in Olive Oil, Agromar 100% Iberian Presa Navarretinto San Vicente Tempranillo Red Wine, Sierra Cantabria [caption id="attachment_30287" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Ventresca (tuna belly) of Bonito del Norte in Olive Oil, Agromar[/caption] Ventresca (tuna belly) of Bonito del Norte in Olive Oil, Agromar Bonito del Norte is one of the jewels of our seas — the Cantabrian Sea, to be exact. Agromar is an Asturian company that knows only how to make the best preserves using the finest raw materials, and in this case they use an exceptional olive oil so you can enjoy it straight from the tin on your homemade gourmet salads. Because it is the true star of any dish you create. The ventresca is the most prized part of the bonito for its pleasant flavor and texture. It is traditionally caught, line-caught by hand with the boat stationary, capturing the fish one by one, so the flesh retains all its quality. That same day they take them to their workshop, where, carefully and with great care, they prepare the slices of bonito. A true marvel. The 100% Iberian presa, or lomito, is one of Spain’s most unique gastronomic experiences. A true treasure. This 100% Acorn-fed Iberian presa originates from and is certified by the D.O. Extremadura. The pigs are raised free-range in the Extremaduran dehesa, and we can say it is one of the most exclusive Iberian pig farms in Spain. It is cured for a minimum of 6 months, and we recommend it for tapas that drive your guests wild. And in a sandwich with extra virgin olive oil, it’s unbeatable! [caption id="attachment_30290" align="aligncenter" width="800"] San Vicente Tempranillo Red Wine, Sierra Cantabria[/caption] San Vicente Tempranillo Red Wine, Sierra Cantabria Premium Spanish wines are still truly undervalued. And we certainly don’t know why. The San Vicente red wine from Sierra Cantabria is a Pago Rioja produced by Señorío de San Vicente in the D.O.Ca Rioja. It is a single-varietal red wine made from Tempranillo Peludo, with complexity, elegance, and character. At Made in Spain Gourmet we recommend it with grilled red meats, stews, big game, acorn-fed Iberian ham, roasts, cured cheeses (sheep and goat), foie gras… but it can also be enjoyed on its own, with a good book.
