Who doesn't enjoy vermouth?

The Vermouth

Essentially, vermouth is a wine macerated with herbs and spices. The tradition of vermouths is mainly European, the most famous being red (Italian) vermouths and white (French) vermouths. But its history goes much further back and, depending on which theories and legends you explore, it can be traced even to ancient Greece. There, it is said, the famous physician Hippocrates created the first vermouth in history by macerating wormwood flowers in wine. Something similar is what, already in the Middle Ages, became known as herb wine or Hippocratic wine. This wine was consumed and popularized steadily for several centuries until, in the 19th century, it began to be produced in a more industrial manner. Among the ingredients typically used to macerate the wine to make vermouth, wormwood is found prominently. In fact, the name vermouth comes from the German word wermut, which means wormwood. But besides this, many botanicals and other spices can be part of this flavorful liqueur, with some recipes containing dozens of ingredients. Here we leave you our Lustau vermouths, our preferred brand of vermouths produced in Spain. Lustau Red Vermouth

A perfect blend of two wines in the traditional and genuine Solera and Criaderas system: an Amontillado, dry and full of character, and a Pedro Ximénez, sweet, intense, and velvety. Wormwood, gentian, and orange peel stand out among more than 10 carefully selected spices and aromatic plants used to make the Jerez vermouth. Lustau has revived the Jerez tradition of producing a vermouth in which the local wine is the true star. Garnished with an orange slice and ice, you'll enjoy one of the best vermouths in the world. Pair it with tapas and appetizers. [caption id="attachment_28805" align="aligncenter" width="800"]Who doesn't enjoy vermouth? Lustau White Vermouth[/caption]

Lustau White Vermouth

Lustau White Vermouth is made from a Fino and a Moscatel, which are subsequently macerated with herbs such as gentian, chamomile, marjoram, and wormwood. It is a citrusy, floral, and herbaceous vermouth with a pleasant initial sweetness that finishes with a dry, slightly bitter touch, highlighting yeast notes and reminiscences of Jerez Fino. Recommended to serve in a wide glass with ice and an olive. Pair it with tapas and appetizers. [caption id="attachment_28806" align="aligncenter" width="800"]Who doesn't enjoy vermouth?
